Palm Sunday Reflections – We are God’s Delight
Today is Palm Sunday Down Under. The day Jesus rode, on a donkey, into Jerusalem. This marks the first day of Easter week.
I finished reading the Old Testament on Friday. And wow, was it a rewarding experience. Certainly challenging, 1300+ pages in 5 weeks. I didn’t have time for deep reflection on individual passages or verses, but I don’t believe that was the purpose. It gave me an overall sense of the first part of God’s great love story.
My key take-out: God loves us so much. Yes, we are His delight. Too often we can dismiss the Old Testament (OT) as being full of great Sunday school stories but has now been “usurped” by Jesus in the New Testament (NT).
We need both to fully understand God’s relentless intense love for us. It’s interesting that Jesus and Paul referred often to the OT in their ministries. They’re good guides for us to follow.
“Fear not, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.” (Luke 12:32 ESV)
I only read this verse this morning. I found it so reassuring. It is God’s pleasure to give us the Kingdom. He wants us to experience the intimacy He and Jesus enjoy together.
That kinda blows my mind.
I hope we all can spend some time this week focusing on God’s great love for us. Try to take a few minutes each day to just be with the Father. A few moments of silence, perhaps read your favourite scripture, sit on a rock enjoying the sunrise.
Oh how He loves us.
Enjoy your week.
“Wonder”full reflection here Ian.
Now that I know God to be so real, I cannot imagine going through one single day without thinking about Him or talking to Him.
“He is jealous for me!” WOW!
Thanks Joanne, love reading your passion for Him.
